About Honor Choirs
Hno For the student who wants to go above and beyond what we learn on a daily basis in rehearsal at school, Honor Choirs are a great opportunity! Typically students will prepare an audition (we work on this in class) and either audition live for judges, or make a recording that Mrs. Cook will submit for adjudication. If selected, the student will be expected to rehearse a set of music that is different from our classroom music, attend rehearsals with all of the other students selected for the Honor Choir, and have a performance at the end of those rehearsals. While it sounds like a lot, it is usually only during the span of 2-3 weeks leading up to the event that the student will spend extra time rehearsing. In addition to singing fantastic music, students selected to honor choirs will get the benefit of working with nationally and internationally recognized conductors, as well as meeting many other students who share their love for music. Many students who attend Honor Choirs claim they are some of the highlights from their time in school. Listed below are the Honor Choir opportunities available for this school year. Please note that students are responsible for all financial obligations associated with the Honor Choirs.
